Krug: Champagne Krug is one of the famous Champagne houses among the members of the Grandes Marques. Krug Grande Cuvée is one of the crown jewels in the LVMH wine division, ranked alongside Moët et Chandon’s Cuvée Dom Pérignon and Veuve Clicquot’s La Grande Dame. Krug Champagneis distinctive and easily recognized by taste due to the house policy of complete barrel fermentation and very extended aging on lees. On the nose, this wine is identified by its strong lees influence and autolytic notes, some oakiness, as well the freshness of disgorgement combined with oxidative maturity. On the palate, Krug wines commonly display raciness as well as richness. They are among the most noticeably oaky of Champagnes and almost invariably dry (less than 10 g/l residual sugar). |

Veuve Clicquot: Veuve Clicquot is a premium Champagne. Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron, Veuve Clicquot played an important role in establishing Champagne as a favored beverage among the haute bourgeoisie and nobility throughout Europe. Its 1811 comet vintage (named for the appearance that year of the Great Comet) is held by some to have been the first truly “modern” Champagne, due to improvements in the méthode champenoise which Veuve Clicquot pioneered through the technique of remuage, (“riddling,” gently shaking the bottle). |
