Chanel n° 5: Chanel N° 5 is the first fragrance that Parisian couturiere Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel created. It was launched in 1921, and the scent has not stopped selling since. It has been called “the world’s most legendary fragrance,” and consistently comes among the top places in perfume sales charts. According to the company of Parfums Chanel, a bottle of Chanel N° 5 is sold every 55 seconds; it remains the company’s top selling scent. The French perfumer Ernest Beaux created the fragrance, which stands out for its overdose of a 1:1:1 accord of aldehydes C-10 (decanal), C-11 (undecanal) and C-12 (dodecanal). |
